Asians are a PROBLEM for America, and I might suggest ALL White homelands. They are miscalled the "Model Minority" in the USSA. They HATE Whites, whether the Asian is Indian, Pakistani, Viet Namese, Hmong, Japanese, Korean or Filipino. This is a photo of Ash Kalra http://www.mercurynews.com/2016/10/19/san-jose-police-chief-recommends-putting-san-jose-gun-laws-on-hold/ San Jose City Councilman Ash Kalra, a Democrat currently vying for an open seat in the California State Assembly, wants to make it mandatory for gun owners to lock up their firearms. Councilman Ash Kalra, a Democrat currently running for an open seat in the California State Assembly, is sponsoring the legislation along with Councilman Raul Peralez, a former San Jose police officer, in what he terms an effort to increase public safety. https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2015/10/19/the-nra-will-fall-its-inevitable/ The NRA will fall. It’s inevitable. Just look at the demographics. The Washington Post, October 19, 2015 by Adam Winkler who is a professor at UCLA School of Law " The fastest-growing minority group in America is Latinos. Between 2000 and 2010, the nation’s Latino population grew by 43 percent. Hispanics, which make up 17 percent of the population today, are expected to grow to 30 percent of the population in the coming decades. Gun control is extremely popular among Hispanics, with 75 percent favoring gun safety over gun rights. Asian Americans also represent a growing anti-gun demographic. Although only about 5 percent of the population today, the Asian American population is predicted to triple over the next few decades. A recent poll of Asian American registered voters found that 80 percent supported stricter gun laws."is So what I wish to state is that non-whites, regardless of their race, HATE Whites and will DESTROY the nations our ancestors built. (((Adam Winkler))) is VERY happy about that. french embassy in

I have concluded that no religion brings peace. Hard as you try to show the contrary, you will fail. Respect, however, brings peace and Respect knows no religion. I feel that all religions are nothing but businesses that evolved in differs eras and in different regions. As things stand, almost all Asians shan't see heaven...but all Maltese and Italians will :)

Islam the religion of peace. I wonder if religion will ever bring peace, even our beloved catholic church has committed atrocities that one cannot even bring themselves to imagine. Religion like Politics is corrupt and dirty yet unfortunately we don't have a viable alternative to politics.

What one writes is part of the personal ethics of a person. Unfortunately in Malta we are not averse to crude gossiping and being inconsiderate in hurting the feelings of others and yet we immediately take umbrage if we are personally even slightly slighted. The maxim of what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander certainly doesn't seem to apply in how we perceive what freedom of speech is all about. Also one of the fundamental reasons why ethics does operate in practice is not some higher order form of ideal behavior but simply the realization of the maxim "Do not do to others what you don't want done to you and your beloved.". Otherwise the time will come when you suffer the consequences.

Great article as usual from this very talented journalist. During the time of this stupid government in power, we have seen so much hate, but people are ready to fight back!!! Tony Zarb was a hamster during the 25 years of peace and tranquility. He was hardly even heard of, because he did not have the heavy hand of his labour government to back his ass!!! Now it's a free for all, so freedom of speech or not, the hate is still spread. What does that tell us. You guess!!!

When Zarb targets some badly chosen barbs and hurls them against PN women, all hell breaks loose. He is vilified, his clothes are hypothetically (although I could not know what was really in his accusers mind!!!) torn off him and stones are raised high ready to strike; and the President is damn requested to shorn him of any honours. When DCG used to do worse to both men and women of a different political persuasion she was glorified as an "investigative", "no holds barred", "true, upright, honest to goodness and sweet as a Mars bar" journalist. Given the vitriol and the pure hatred that has been aimed at Michelle Muscat - by wannabe politicians, wannabe "musicians" and hate bloggers, Tony Zarb's comment was mild, to say the least. The women who felt so insulted by Zarb never stood up for Michelle Muscat - even when vicious and sick comments were made against her whilst she was raising funds for charity. Once they found the insults against Michelle Muscat acceptable, nay, hilarious, it is only fair that they are subjected to the same themselves.

This is what I wrote and what was removed by the "freedom of speech" loving Malta Independent on the publication of the names of the persons who were to address yesterday's demonstration in Sliema. "Andrew Borg Cardona - is this the lawyer of the "bitch" and "mof" refined speeches and the one wearing a hat and with the outstretched arm during the rendition of the Maltese National Anthem in front of the Law Courts - which he thinks are his personal domain?" This was accompanied by a picture showing this refined lawyer at the protest in front of the Law Courts.

Freedom of speech in Malta is a political aberration:if you attack someone : its freedom of speech: if they attack you, its abuse! The late DCG blogs-RIP- were NOT a good example of freedom of speech; if anything these blogs were a caricature of freedom of speech ! No dissenting comment was ever tolerated! As for Zarb,s comments these are as abusive as Bocca,s rantings against labour bitches, and mother f.ckers; and as hateful as the late DCG's abuse against Labour women-( including President) humiliated and described in the most degenerative terms: low IQ,fat, short, bogans: in speech, clothing attitudes, unrefined, whores, corrupt, sluts running after married men etc etc! I wonder if any of the foreign journos have ever read any of her blogs!

Indeed, the answer to your first question lies within. The freedom in and of itself is absolute. He is perfectly free to say what he wants; and in fact he did. He was not prevented from saying what he wished to say. This question as to consequences is different. Was it insensitive? I jolly well think so, but one can live with that ultimately. However, where free speech intrudes over other rights, then the law kicks in - hence the Criminal Code articles being cited as breached by this charming gentleman. And here is the key point: it is only the law that gives and restrains the right to express oneself. If you feel aggrieved, take it up before the courts; but do not block free expression at the outset - in a worst case by eliminating the voice completely. It is sad to have to be discussing these basic tenets of democracy in 2017. We are forest dwellers ultimately. Not sure what we’ve been doing in the EU these past 13 years.

Free speech has its limitations, in that it is balanced against the right to be protected against hate speech, threats of violence, defamation etc. Mr. Zarb’s comments, seeing his role as a public figure and the context in which is was said, could have been perceived by the women there as a threat — they are prostitues, traitors and assassins. What does one do with women like that? His comment of ‘I am sure they will some someone to warm them up’ ... could be felt to have undertones of the kind of sexual violence threats women receive. If he did not think that some would feel that way, then he is even more stupid than he looks. No, it’s not a cotton-wool generation of women who are over sensitive. It’s a generation of women fed-up of being threaten to shut up (jew nigi ghalik u nifqak - said in parliament in 2016), of being told they are sluts, of perpetrators of domestic violence being lightly punished and of not being taken seriously. Do not compare Chetcuti’s onion comment to this, just for the sake of sounding non-partisan because there is a gulf of difference in the the context, meaning and underlying intent. One is threatening, the other is an insult.

Freedom of speech is freedom of speech. Its either you accept it or you don't but certain people want it one way. I answer posts in the times of malta and malta independent without insulting anyone but I am totally blocked by the times of malta and sometimes blocked by malta independent. And one can see the editors of these dailies in the front line protesting for freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in Malta has an agenda from certain quarters.

I agree with much of what has been said, however, comparing tony zarbs post to kristina chetcuti's is not right. One post is criticisizing a public figure appointed politically, the other is criticisizing civil protestors. Very different. Secondly, the fact that Zarb remains unpunished for such comments by his employers (joseph muscat only condemned after being questionned by journalists and after comparing it to other comments) also goes to demonstrate the state of the country. Free for all where no one is responsabile for their actions. But when you have yoir right hand minister and chief of staff caught with their pants down opening tax exading structures and nothing is done, than it is hard to imagine anyone bearing responsability for anything.
