'Could we be forgiven for concluding a suspicion that a campaign of the murder, rape and torture of farm inhabitants does not fall outside the province of ANC gov't ambit' What with the Defence Minister's latest statement (or was it a thinly veiled threat?)about genocide and war being a possibility if white people continue with Black Monday protests, I am inclined to conclude a suspicion that you are quite correct George.

Yesterday I read a piece by Prince Mashele that describes SA as reverting from an Euro-African country, albeit one previously operating at a much higher level of functionality and integrity than its African counterparts, to a typically African country, with all the warts that this implies and realizes. Graft and corruption, inefficiencies, big-man politics, cadre deployment, theft, exploitation of women, systems' even judicial system processes are what has crept into the landscape of SA and this represents reversion to the African type and reality. This article both reinforces Mashele's contention and provides the minutiae in respect of just one layer of the endemic, behemoth like corruption woven into SA society by a parasitic ANC! That murder happens to be an adjunct to this mega-failure of the people of SA, is both shocking and unsurprising. Could we be forgiven for concluding a suspicion that a campaign of the murder, rape and torture of farm inhabitants does not fall outside the province of ANC gov't ambit. After all, Prince, this has a precedence in Africa - Rhodesia to whit, where, in the late 70's, the SAANC and ZANU PF embarked on a campaign of murder of farming families. Approaching 2000 innocent souls of all ages were viciously exterminated in a few years. It seems that the motives converge!

After the first municipal elections under the new dispensation, a work colleague of mine who grew up in a township in Kroonstad told me how the ANC installed an illiterate person as Mayor, the purpose being that he would approve his cronies tenders with his thumbprint. The ANC cronies were not interested in the measly monthly income they could earn as counselors whereas for the illiterate person it was a lot of money. Corruption ( "It's our turn to eat" as was overheard at the Polokwane conference) has been part of the ANC's culture since the outset and is all pervasive.

"Two things stood out. First, the extent of the corruption was much greater than I had imagined, extending across a number of departments in the metro administration. Second, politics and corruption were closely linked: political power was exercised in pursuit of financial gain." The naivety of journalists and book writers never ceases to amaze me. The rest of us seem to have a knowledge of corruption being all-pervasive throughout the economy, the financial business, the politics and anything and everything else that can possible be targeted for capture. So often we hear from a reporter or investigator something like "This is terrible. But what is the motivation for ..." When you don't understand the motive, first and foremost suspect that there is political corruption. There is no motivation to serve, there is only motivation to self-enrich. What else, for goodness' sake? The naivety. Gangster state, to be sure.

What a depressing article! Good, but depressing. This just speaks to what Mathlante said about getting the leaders one deserves - the endemically corrupt who ran about sowing anarchy and destruction voted the corrupt and destructive into power to continue the same with impunity - this wasn't democracy in action, this was mob rule, just "sanitised" under another name - majority rule. Thing is, many of us didn't vote for this leadership and we certainly don't deserve them. Wake up SA, 2019 is coming, make it count. Don't let the parasitic hegemony destroy this great land. Let's give them all a good dose of Vermox!

I wonder if Chippy Olver is still supporting and voting for the ANC, his dear and beloved ANC. It is clear he and many of his comrades did nothing to stop the hijacking of the ANC. They were around when Jacob Zuma was elected leader of the ANC. I have never heard a word from them about these ANC parasites. I am sure Chippy like Pravin Gordham and Derek Hanekom and so many others are still loyal ANC, and thus by implication Zuma, supporters. How do we ever stop this rot?? Why don't they get rid of all these corrupt crooks?

We should start with petitioning the DA to use a Blockchain system or introduce a crypto currency in all the metros where they control. The Blockchain makes all transactions transparent by recording them in a decentralized record. Having a cryptocurrency adds another level of recording as it gets turned into cash. The DA’s arm will have to be twisted, because even they have transactions that they want to hide. But this will be the best way to root out corruption - and perhaps the only way to stop it altogether. As long as we have fiat cash we will have corruption.

Mr. Adrian Delia has won two difficult elections on the run against overwhelming odds just because his battle was CHANGE TO A NEW WAY which undoubtedly was what the majority of the P.N. WISHED AND YEARNED FOR. But in a very short period of time he seems to have lost his nerve and his promised NEW WAY seems to have evaporated into thin air. Politically this will prove to be his undoing cause Election Promises are made to be kept and never put aside. His strong and courageous Battle Cry has now turned into a whisper and he surely has committed Political suicide and no future promises will ever be taken seriously again no matter how many Block votes he will conjure because battles are never won on the retreat but by bravely advancing through fire and hell. Quo vadiz now Adrian ????

Parliament spent 3 hours discussing rule of law today. Your question has to be formulated better. How is rule of law compromised ? Godfrey Farrugia resigning from Labour Whip wrote "Labour bent the law to suit its purposes...This political game of illusion was never to my liking; worse than this was the Macchiavellian game,post-truth politics hypocrisy and anti-truth."

Sad times for the PN. Much to my disappointment, I fear that Delia's position as party leader is untenable. His past shady dealings and the recent tragedy means he must go for the sake of the party and the country. With him gone the PN may regain the moral high ground and renew it's valid criticism of this corrupt, squalid government Delia's presence is undermining the party.

30/10/2017

mario mifsud

There must be innumerable definitions of rule of law , but the sense is the same . I give you the first 1 that comes to hand . Rule of law is the restriction of the arbitrary exercise of power by subordinating it to well-defined and established laws. "when military dictators fall, the democrats who follow them must try to restore the rule of law" I can add a comment . This arbitrary exercise of power results when a situation is created where theory and practice become irreconcialable In our case ..theory are the laws, and practice is the exercise of power.
