Labour created a system were it encouraged women to participate and train them to be more competitive with men in the coming elections. Women are as qualified as men, if not better. They only want level playing field. Also Politics should be a place for Ladies and gentlemen, not for Political Assassins, like almost all the PN Politian's especially it's leadership are. The sitting should be more family friendly for women, not explicitly designed to accommodate all the PN lawyers. All the women need, is that they party educate more it's supporters of this fact, not discriminate against men. We don't want a situation, where we have to start discriminating against women in the future, because valid men are discouraged into participating.

This election not only looks but also is the most undemocratic of promoting omen in high places. These are the same people who criticised labour for pushing omen forward in politics. But helping omen go into politics is one thing, but completely giving them more then 2 to 1 chance then men to be elected is completely unacceptable and undemocratic. In fact women have exactly 210.528% chance more then men, of being elected. And they said they are all about democracy. The PN just showed us that they cannot even be democratic among themselves, who is going to trust them, that would act Democratic with all those that they don't have their own political pedigree. This is a political manoeuvre, that it will somehow back fire on the PN, because discriminated and injustice on men, would continue to ferment even more, the political situation delia has created in the PN, be pissed off by the man aspiring for a position in the leadership of the PN.

NI is imposed on us and I've always just considered it an additional tax. I'm 36 and I believe there is more chance of a UFO landing on my roof then there is of me collecting a pension because even if there is a pension in the future then they will continue to raise the retirement age until you are too dead to collect. One way or another people need to look for their own retirement and not rely on the government. You are right with regards to the points you make about the government their success is due to political pull if they had such great entrepreneurial skill they would own multi million euro companies not seek a safe and secure job in public office.

Am I correct to add that once a member of parliament no capping is applicable!?

The point is that NI contributions are not a choice but imposed on us just like so many other things, so personal investments together with NI contributions to “take care of yourself ……” as you put it, from what is left of a net salary is certainly not a walk in the park. If NI will ever be a choice, (which is unlikely for obvious reasons) the story would be totally different, and a sound pension scheme or other investment in lieu of NI would make more sense. Only then you can take your care in your own hands. As to your “most politicians can't balance their own finances …..” are you kidding?? If they truly cannot they have professionals doing it for them, for free or some favour! And if ever off balance, rest assured that it would certainly lean in their favour!!....Just bear in mind past financial breaking news that will settle your doubts in an instant!

We live in a democracy and we have elections every 5 years do you honestly think any government gives a toss about what happens after they are voted out of office? Besides most politicians can't balances their own finances how do you expect them to balance yours? Take care of yourself nobody care about you more then you care about yourself.

Start working your butt and pay one tenth of your earning in Ni for 40 years....when you have done that, re-phrase!

31/10/2017

R. Zammit

If all politicians in power invested those millions paid in NI wisely, rather than squandering them as they deemed fit, they would certainly be self sufficient, and the money saved would prosper rather than loose value. What do you think privately owned pension schema do? How would they otherwise not only survive, but also generate profits!

31/10/2017

R. Zammit

R. Zammit

No way! Your statement is incorrect. The maximum pension one can benefit from is two thirds of a salary that is capped by the government, and not the actual two thirds of one's salary if it happens to be higher that the set benchmark. Basically, if a pensioner's highest salary in his last working 10 years where higher, he would not actually benefit two thirds of his salary, but two thirds of the capped salary.

It is called two-thirds pension for the simple reason that the highest pension is in fact of two thirds of one's last wage or salary before retirement.

The way the pensions problem looks is that we are heading for Greece. Poor old Pensioners. That´s how it started in Greece.

31/10/2017

Lillian Smith

Lillian Smith

That is hate-speech. Blaming pensioners for the lack of opportunities of the young. The N.I. pensions were designed to be self-sufficient and it is only now that we are focusing on them because the Financial Industry has an eye on them to privatized them and make them 'for profit'. Then there is the fact that the government, under EU directions, has opened up the fund to become part of the general taxation and it is therefore it is losing money because it is being used for other government expenditures, So instead of improving the N.I. pension system, the long-term plans is to scrap it and replace with for profit private pension schemes that see the retirement age rise higher and higher, to effective stealing both the money paid in and a retirement, as the majority of the people would be dead by the time they qualified.

I wish they stopped calling it two-thirds pension.

31/10/2017

Final salary pensions should be scrapped and that scrapping applied retrospectively. Totally unsustainable and effectively stealing the future from the younger generations today. Any pension payments should only come directly from the sum of any contributions made and any growth in those contributions if invested over time nothing else.

Talk of the town bcos he is focused on his own life instead of service deleveries to the poor. That's what Derrick Mosoana said and I believe him. As for other stories that Mathabatha is talk of the town bcos of his complexion.... it's fine if you believe daily sun and it's far fetched insinuations.

Wena Mathiva are you stupid or what?? Who said anything about the complexion?? And you say you don't know what cheeseboy is but you busy responding to the term "cheeseboy"?? Here is what Derick said:"Derick Mosoana, acting leader of the congress, said Mathabatha deserved to be called a cheese boy because he was focused on his own life instead of delivering services to the poor." There is nowhere he said anything about complexion, you just looking for attention.
