You say: "● Max height: The drone may not exceed 192 m (400 ft) or the highest obstacle within 300 m of the pilot, whichever is the lower of the two." So if I'm out in the rural areas and the highest obstacle is my accommodation, which is maybe 3 metres tall, I can only fly the drone up to 3 metres high? I suspect that you've misunderstood the regulations.

Although, if this is correct: "..you must keep more than 50 m from people, roads and buildings..." - even if you stay only above your own property, on almost all residential properties it will be impossible to stay more than 50m away from a road, or from your neighbour's house.

NO, it is ok to fly on and above your own property, it is when you encroach or cross the erf line that it is not allowed. Unless you get permission from your neighbour/s.

Yeah, lets see how well enforcement works on this. I think in general there will be no way of proving an infringement. More legal lols... I expect the only real use will be in high profile cases. The average citizen ain't going to give a to$$!

Not really. The legislation derives from the South African Civil Aviation Authority. By and large I agree with these. There are definite safety and privacy considerations, here.

Just another means for the big guys to dominate and exclude everyone else in the name of "Safety and security". These professional photographers would ban all personal cameras if they had the chance.

So, basically, it's impossible to legally fly a drone in a residential area, unless you have explicit permission to do so.

Are you a dumb-bell like the rest of your ''upvoters''??....Mosilo Mothepu was NOT a normal, ordinary, former ''employee'' she was CEO of Trillian Financial Advisory, which means she had/has full access to AND knowledge of whats going on in ''higher levels'' at Trillion.... a normal ''employee'' would NOT have access to the information she gave in her testimony, but she certainly would have, considering the position she held....so her testimony would be more FACT rather than ''ALLEGATION''....RIGHT???

Not only did they know about the finance ministers' axing, but they most certainly must have known what its effect on the ZAR might be. Surely the criminals would trade those kinds of secrets to enrich a few fellow cronies overnight?

I am going to be terribly un- PC now, but really ? Even if this is all true, she saw the top half of his genitals and was that traumatised? For what reason? The right reaction would have been to laugh at him and say " is that all? I would rather that you keep the towel to hide your smallness." This is taking it out of all proportion in my opinion. I am openly gay and faced far worse at my previous work. The best defence was humour. If a guy said something with a sexual connotation usually in front of other guys, trying to be clever, I would simply say " You're not my type. I like men." He would cringe and not try it again.

Amazing..... I can as 'older' member of society, remember when, especially the 'right wing' supporters, could not handle the articles in the Sunday Times..!! The Afrikaans community sometimes refer to the paper as the 'Sunday Liar' ....!! More amazing, their view's have actually changed very little.... The Anc loved them in those days...., & now..??

Dear Morons, the Sunday Times story is based on the book authored by Jacques Pauw - they did not write the book nor have they invented the facts contained in the book. The book is flying off the shelves, get yourselves a copy, form a reading club, discuss its contents, then go the Conference and do the right thing.

Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland and its largest city, is famous for being the place where the Titanic was designed, built and launched and where people were blown up to pieces.
