Steve Our problem is Corruption, not Communism. As such, you leap from buying reactors we can't afford, from whatever source, to the causes and effects of Venezuela's collapse, is tenuous, at best. Try a more appropriate analogy - say Zimbabwe

I wonder: are we, as taxpayers, still paying for Prof Chris Malikane to "advise" our finance minister? https://citizen.co.za/news/south-africa/1500245/gigabas-advisor-warns-s-africans-prepare-worst/

If my memory serves me correctly, Steven Mulholland was one of the editors who paved the way for the ANC to take over power from the Nats because in western liberal democracies the majority is always right. This was done by demonising the Nats and sanctifying the ANC "freedom fighters" Now that we are up the ANC creek without any paddles it has become time to do some introspection and ask ourselves: What were we thinking, what have we wrought? Was apartheid really that bad? Compared to the present chaos they did a remarkable job. At least those guys could count and knew the difference beteen credit and debit. We are in this mess because western liberal governments sacrificed white governance in Southern Africa by throwing them to the wolves in order to absolve themselves from their guilt over colonialism. Now they pontificate over the mess they have created, trying to find scape goats. Is there nobody among the western liberals that have the integrity and courage to admit that they have really screwed up?

The whole speech was rubbish . Then he tried to spin saving SAA on Morning Live . Apart from 'promoting SA food and culture ' , think of all those that would lose their jobs . Do I recall JZ783 promising them all their jobs are safe . Can anyone remember when SAA last made a profit ? All the calls for 'Privatisation ' .....seriously ? Who , why and how would anyone want to buy it ?

ARCH clown Gigaba virtually destroyed SA tourism with his unabridged birth certificate policy, whilst serving his illustrious career as Minister of Home Affairs. The policy was termed 'unprecedented' by a number of global airlines, where a child's passport which stated the parents' names was deemed 'insufficient evidence' of the child's paternality. And if this wasnt enough he was flirting with another woman on whatsapp on his nuptial night, a 'NY model' he was having sex with at the tax payer's expense (whilst of course planning his wedding attire) . Tell me Honourable Minister Gigaba, is this the example you wish to give SA's youth. Is this acceptable in your morality? Your Gucci shoes still house your moral footsteps. Ugh! https://www.biznews.com/sa-investing/2017/04/04/sunil-shah-malusi-gigaba/ And to reward him for the major stuff-up at DHA he is promoted to MINISTER OF FINANCE!! one of the most important positions in the land. One would not be unreasonable in asking if the ANC deliberately want to destroy this great country. Poor Mandela, he must be squirming in his grave. And no Gigaba, he wasnt buried in Gucci shoes.

The only reason I can think of for keeping on to SAA, is to hide corruption and mismanagement. If it's privatized then the whole can of worms will be opened.

If a competent [not corrupted person] was put in charge of SAA's procurement/supply chain and NORMAL prices were paid for EVERYTHING SAA purchases - it would be instantaneously profitable. !!!

An excellent but also disturbing analysis of what is happening in front of our eyes. There are totally incapable and a lot of crooks in strong political positions in this country. They are certainly not there to manage, govern or serve the people of this country. They are there doing a great job in destructing and destroying what was once a great country.

My thoughts too as I read the article. WHEN will justice begin to prevail???? How many articles and comments do we still need before something positive happens??? By the way, the photo of nr 1 asleep: he's actually much more attractive (in more than one way) when he sleeps...........

The ANC simply needs the Eskom's and SAA's to line their pockets. If the SOE's are all privatised then good governance will be implemented and which will be the end of all the tenderpreneurs.

Good one Steven. One thing is clear and that is wherever you see Russia, America and now China it is because they are after one thing - oil. Do you really think China gives a toss about Angola or Russia for Venezuela? And why would the States bother visiting Zimbabwe - once the bread basket of Africa. So, the ANC (not just Zuma) want to sell us into eternal poverty by pledging our minerals in return for a Nuclear programme. WTF?
