No real info here. How about the tax implications? If I have one home and I buy before I sell how will this affect my capital gains tax situation? Your primary residence has a capital gains tax advantage I believe, but it could become unclear which house is your primary residence if you buy before selling.

women's abuse hotline The top politicians couldn't give a damn about anybody else. They are beholden to the corporatocracy which runs the world. Lining their own pockets (billions and billions and billions of Rands get stolen each year) and building their own bunkers (for when the poo really hits the fan...), our "government" is a disgrace. An absolute disgrace. They should all be rounded up and incarcerated. "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" should be compulsory reading for all students of finance. Our government doesn't run the country, they are selling out just like many/most other countries.

women's abuse Only capital expenditure should ever be financed by debt. Any person with economic savvy will tell you that. We should NEVER allow the government to waste our money or make any debt on behalf of future generations unless future generations can repay the debt from income generated by that debt, To give a politician a blank cheque is fatal

Unfortunately the tax revolt will have to be initiated by big business and they will only act when the bow of the SAS South Africa dips beneath the waves. They do not realize that the SAS SA Titanic was mortally wounded when it hit the ANC iceberg. Maybe the real credit downgrade (listing ship) will make them aware of the danger that through inaction, they will lose everything.

A deficit is fine in a growing economy, but in a shrinking economy such as SA it is fatal. The rest of the world is growing, but not SA and we can thank our idiots and thieves in charge for that. They are 100% to blame, even though they are like children frantically thinking of ways to deflect the blame onto the whites.

The blinkered and blinded arrogance of the McKaiser poisonous chameleon turncoat is infuriating. I cannot count the number of times I have turned the radio off when he starts with his chip-on-the shoulder nonconstructive bile spewing.

It is not only the middle class - the cost of bread or corn will rocket as I assume inflation will go a bit crazy. We do peg out primary crop price to international prices.

I disagree. People can change their minds as situations change. Sometimes a belief is held so strongly you literally need a slap in the face to see reality. Here we need to acknowledge the personal struggle and change of perception. A smug 'I told you so' is nothing. It could be worse - there are people who cannot change their belief, and with the contradictions they face have no expression but anger through frustration - but they still will not see, Lets accept others change in opinion and be thankful for it. There is dialogue there, not violence. hotline

Just bring on the domestic debt do grade and get it over with!! Let’s see how much the new ANC middle class likes their credit card, mortgage and car repayments doubling in a single month. Go look at 1986/87 Between a debt downgrade and a tax revolt we can be rid of the Zuptas

It is really so galling to see someone like McKaiser adding his voice to the criticism of Gigaba., well deserved as criticism is There are some people whose strident voices have done so much to undermine any possibility of an upward trajectory for this country with their divisive and destructive world views. South Africa has been stripped of its intellectual and physical capital because of the toxic climate created by some of the people who are now finally starting to see just how profoundly damaging the ANC government really is. They would do far better to take themselves off to some quiet corner and introspect on whether their views actually add anything of value and then remain silent. When many of us were critical in the past going back 20 years,we were simply accused of being racists whose previous "privilege" should exclude us from the right to a voice. That we were absolutely correct is lost on these people who are now so late to the cacophonous party. They are legion, and not any any positive way

To eat 95.7 grams of meat in stead of 100 grams is easily achieved and will hardly be noticed (4.3% saving). But the cadres will much rather eat 150 grams today and believe that they will be able to steal 150 grams per day indefinitely. Such is the cognitive disconnection of the politically connected.

When other countries middle classes are shrinking Chinas middle class is growing whilst the economy now has the highest GDP(PPP) on the planet. Xi is certainly pushing China ahead. China is also talking about paying for crude in either Yuan or possibly gold before year end. As the largest importer of crude I'd imagine they'll get their way - short of a nuclear war. That's going to unsaddle a few 'cowboys'.

"... China had entered a 'new era. that would transform it into a global superpower with a world-class military by mid-century" A new world power like China needs a firm hand in President Xi Jinping. His predecessor Hu Jintao appear to have been content in just being an affable character. Xi Jinping is the man with the firmness to prevent the Asian region being wrecked by receding cowboys. The priority now is to turn the world's largest army in the world's best military machine. That accolade is probably a done deal. Even a truant Taiwan nearby has largely been quite these days as they witness first hand the rise of the dragon, that will be welcoming Taiwan back into the family fold any time soon.
