How very unique. The albino almost doesn't look like the same breed as the one with regular coloring. I wonder if both these two civets were photographed at the same location/watering hole?

The northern part of the Kruger is not so congested. Punda Maria and Shingwedzi camps both are not overcrowded and we had lion sightings there aplenty. We did not see wild dogs there, but a mother and two cheeta offspring are regularly seen in the Klopperfontein area near Punda. In the south we try to drive mainly the gravel roads, but still not as quiet as the North. getting tested

thanks for the info, much appreciated! Do you have any links to stories about the relocation? That sounds very interesting indeed!

Take an untroubled trip to Ithala Game reserve in Zululand! Don't stay at the Hotel; reserve one of the rustic bush-camps. They are a "take your own" option where you bring whatever food and personal items you need as there are no stores or any kind of shop within 100 Km and definitely no traffic! iMfolosi park near Hluhluwe is similar. Nambwa is a great place to stay, and Horseshoe is an unknown gem for sure! Also a must-do is Nkasa Lupala National Park, just a bit further south...

Went up North in the Kruger last year, was indeed more quiet but also many of the bush was burnt, unfortunately :(

Khaudum NP in Namibia has wild dogs and lions. The Kgalagadi in South Africa is not as packed with people as Kruger (in fact, is pretty awesome!) and is great for predators, but there are no wild dogs. If you stick with Kruger and don't want to see many people, stick to the north but I believe the wild dogs are more in the southern bit. Chobe, in Botswana is also great. If you have the money, go to Tswalu in the Kalahari in South Africa. A pack of wild dogs has just been relocated there this week and it is a pretty amazing place.

thanks for the reply Cristina and Jelmer...I am under the impression that Kruger and the OKavango have some of the highest traffic volume though? thoughts? I'd prefer somewhere that is a bit off the beaten track so that my money goes towards supporting conservation efforts that arent as well known but equally important (plus I dont want to be in a crowd of 30 4WDs), I had planned on going to Mole national park in Ghana but after a bit of delving into journal papers on camera trapping of lions in Ghana, it seems that unfortunately Lions are no longer found in Ghana at all (contrary to what their tourism website says). for stds

I love Nambwa! We had a hippo grazing our campsite at night. Good thing we were sleeping on a roof top tent. A leopard visited the place the night before, too bad we missed it! Definitely, stay at Nambwa, I am planning on going back there.

In my experience, the best chance seeing Wild dog at Kruger would be near Pretoriuskop. Camping as a cheaper option works perfectly indeed @cristinagarciabrindley:disqus

You can camp at all these places as we never stay at fancy lodges. If you want to see lions and wild dogs, the Okavango or Kruger are perfect.

Id prefer to spend all my money on extra time looking at the wildlife rather then paying for ultra fancy lodgings, do you have any reccomendations for cheap places to stay where I can see wild dogs and lions as well? thanks

Can our police be used more fruitfully please. Our children badly need protecting from deranged adults in our society. I would far rather the police be visible in areas where children are preyed upon. Let these gangster scumbags sort themselves out!!
